Our Story

Serious Gourmet began in 1999 when Joanne Synnott turned her love for cooking into a small home-based catering business. Over time, her passion for creating delicious meals grew into a full-scale catering company. A decade ago, her daughters, Jacqui and Shannon, joined the business, and we moved into our purpose-built kitchen in Penrose, Auckland.

What started as family meals in our own kitchen has become a trusted catering service, helping people celebrate with great food.

Joanne – The Heart of Our Kitchen
With years of experience cooking for family and friends, Joanne knows how to create food that feels special. She is dedicated to quality and has built strong relationships with our clients by always delivering meals with care and attention to detail. Even during challenging times, her leadership has helped Serious Gourmet continue to grow.

Jacqui – The Creative Chef
Jacqui has a deep understanding of nutrition and designs meals that are both healthy and full of flavour. She ensures we offer options for all dietary needs—gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan, and low-carb—so everyone can enjoy a delicious meal. She also works closely with suppliers to source the freshest ingredients.

Shannon – The Organiser
Shannon keeps everything running smoothly behind the scenes. She manages daily operations, customer service, and accounts, making sure every client feels valued. From your first enquiry to the final event, she ensures a seamless experience.
