About Us

Serious Gourmet was established in 1999 by Joanne Synnott.

Joanne has worked extensively in the hospitality industry over the last 20 years including owning & running a successful cafe.

Serious Gourmet started as a small home based business & is now located in a purpose built kitchen in Penrose Auckland.  

Joanne’s daughters Jacqui and Shannon have come on board as business partners and bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to the running of the company.

Jacqui has worked extensively in the hospitality industry in Europe for over 5 years and has a Bachelors degree in hospitality management from AUT. 

Shannon started out as the baker, but now manages all accounts and customer services. She has a great knowledge of the day to day running of Serious Gourmet.

Serious Gourmet has developed strong relationships with its clients over the years and is still popular among original clients.

Serious Gourmet are a team of highly creative and talented individuals.

In my day-to-day role with T&R Interior Systems, we use Serious Gourmet on a weekly basis to cater for seminars, ranging from 2 to 40 people. There are options for dairy/gluten/egg/nut free, vegetarian, diabetic and more. This team is serious about gourmet food for everyone, regardless of dietary restrictions.

I am also part of a not-for-profit organisation called NAWIC (National Association of Women In Construction). Serious Gourmet provided catering for 100+ guests - antipasto platters, plated food and hot items. The food was, hands down, incredible. It looked amazing, smelled amazing and tasted amazing. We had so many positive comments, including one individual who said it was the best catering of any event they had ever been to, in their entire life!

It seems the team at Serious Gourmet really can do it all – whether it’s lunch for two, or finger food for hundreds, they are a fine tuned machine and I am proud to use them on a regular basis. They are always on time, with food delivered fresh & hot, beautifully presented and with stunning flavours that everyone loves.
